Community Grant Program
Supporting local education, sustainability, safety, and economic development
Timbermill Wind is committed to supporting educators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers in the community. One small way we do this is by giving back through our Community Grant Program. To date, the Timbermill Wind Community Grant Program has provided over $120,000 to regional non-profit organizations and community groups.
If you represent a group or organization that meets one of our four key funding categories (see below), we encourage you to complete the application and apply today. Our goal is to fund projects and programs that build healthy communities, create economic opportunity, encourage environmental sustainability, and promote education.
Community grants tend to fall in the $1,000-to-$5,000 range, but may be larger or smaller depending on the quality of the application and identified community needs. Grant dollars are limited; priority will be given to proposals that benefit residents in and around the project area.

Key Funding Categories
Safe and Healthy Communities
Programs that support first responders, public health, good government, open communication, citizen resources, and/or enhance the quality of life in the community. Applicants must demonstrate how the program or event contributes to these social goals.
Economic Development
Apex Clean Energy supports and encourages the entrepreneurial spirit. It is part of our mission to serve as a catalyst for economic opportunity and development within the communities where we operate.
Environmental Sustainability
Programs that possess a strong link to environmental revitalization, sustainability, or education thereof, empower residents to be stewards of the environment, and/or encourage partnerships to address environmental concerns and sustainability.
Promoting Education
Programs that support educational institutions, the advancement of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and training programs for careers in the energy industry. This may include curriculum development, literacy, school readiness, and other initiatives that help students grow into young leaders. Vocational training institutions that help build a skilled workforce are encouraged to apply.

Edenton Farmers Market
“The Edenton Farmers Market Board of Directors wants to thank Timbermill Wind for their kindness and unwavering support through its Community Grant program. The grant allows lower-income families receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to buy more fruits, vegetables, honey, and eggs from local farms. Timbermill Wind Fresh Match doubles the purchasing power of SNAP/EBT by matching each EBT dollar spent."

Chowan County Cooperative Extension
A $5,000 grant award to the Chowan County Cooperative Extension will support construction of an accessible outdoor learning space at the Chowan County Arboretum to be used by Chowan County Cooperative Extension and other community organizations. Specifically, funding from Timbermill Wind will be used for the purchase and installation of the shade cover over the already existing concrete pad, which serves as a base for the outdoor classroom.
Edenton Steamers
"The Steamers organization is beyond thankful for the continued support from Timbermill Wind. Their contributions will help us achieve a vital renovation of seamless WiFi across the ballpark. This will help us continue to upgrade our Point-of-Sale offerings and quality of services around the park as we look to always better the fan experience. Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library
